Ronnie Fieg Previews an Upcoming New Balance Collaboration

Following some teasers by Ronnie Fieg on social media, Kith has officially revealed its entire collection with New Balance, United Arrows, and Nonnative.

With New York Fashion Week on the horizon, Ronnie Fieg is at work prepping his Kith Park runway show. Ahead of the official reveal of all of the streetwear brand's upcoming projects for 2019, Fieg has given a sneak peek at a future New Balance collaboration.

Fieg revealed a pair yesterday via Instagram that sports a similar colorway to United Arrows' New Balance 997.5 collaboration from 2009. The pair is most famously known for being rocked frequently by Kanye West around that time—a surprising switch up during his "Louis Vuitton Don" era. Instead of utilizing the 997.5 for the latest release, Fieg and the Japanese label have brought a similar grey and pink color scheme inspired by the original to the updated 997S.

Grey suede and mesh cover most of the upper with pink and purple hits appearing on the branding and midsole. To modernize the silhouette, the 997S features a grey neoprene bootie. The pair sits on a cream ENCAP midsole.

While Fieg's New Balance collaborations were once more frequent a few years ago, the Kithfounder's projects with the brand have become more sporadic as of late. There is currently no official release information for the Kith x United Arrows x New Balance 997S at this time.

The collection will consist of six pairs that pay homage to two of Fieg's favorite New Balance collabs—three inspired by United Arrows' 997.5 collaboration from 2009, and three inspired by Nonnative's "Dune" 997.5 from 2011. Each trio features premium versions of the 997, 997S, and 997S Fusion colored up to resemble each notable project. The 997S is a modernized version of the OG 997 with updated features like a neoprene sock collar and more lightweight build. The 997S Fusion fuses the OG upper with the new tooling introduced on the 997S.

United Arrows' 997 is constructed of pig skin suede and mesh, while the Nonnative pair opts for exotic materials like pony hair and ostrich leather. Each pair will feature a unique triple-stacked "N" logo on the side panels to symbolize the three partners involved in the project.
