The Nike React Element 87 x Undercover is out!
Sometimes an already-cool sneaker manages to get even cooler, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Nike’s current hit shoe, the React Element 87. The new squishy-soled, translucent-uppered, Instagram-beloved sneaker made its inaugural release earlier this summer with two sleek colorways. But the most coveted version has been floating around in cool-kid Instagrams and street-style photos since as early as February. And that version of the sneaker—a collaboration between Nike and its longtime partner Japanese designer Jun Takahashi—finally drops later this week.
Takahashi’s label, Undercover, has been a staple for in-the-know fashion heads since the 1990s, and the designer’s Nike collabs always fly off the shelves. Since first showing up on the Parisian runway, the Nike React Element 87 x Undercover sneaker has been slowly building a mountain of hype. In many ways, the kicks have all the makings of a hit 2018 sneaker: bold usage of color, head-turning silhouette, collaborative co-sign from a fashion heavy-hitter—and for the past few months, it feels like every fashion editor and sneaker-owning celebrity under the sun has been wearing them. Just like the non-collab edition, these running-inspired kicks feature a translucent upper that sits atop Nike’s tech-heavy “drilled” React sole. But leave it to Takahashi to kick things up a notch with his use of whimsical colors and reflective 3M detailing. Oh, and the coveted Undercover branding printed on the sneaker’s side. The collaboration includes four colorways that range from mellow earthy tones to eye-burning neons, too, so there is something for every type of sneaker fan out there.
As you might have guessed, a Nike sneaker worthy of a Paris Fashion Week debut won’t exactly be easy to get. These kicks will only drop at select retailers in limited quantities, so it'll take a watchful eye—and a little luck—to cop a pair. To give you a head start, we've compiled a list of stores that will be stocking and raffling the Nike React Element 87 x Undercover sneaker below.
